Business Intelligence Products

Products shown on the Grid for Business Intelligence have received a minimum of 10 reviews/ratings in data gathered by December 04, 2015. Products are ranked by customer satisfaction (based on user reviews) and market presence (based on market share, vendor size, and social impact) and placed into four categories on the Grid:

• Leaders offer business intelligence products that are rated highly by G2 Crowd users and have substantial scale, market share, and global support and service resources. Leaders products include: Tableau Desktop, InsightSquared, Phocas Software, Zoho Reports, and QlikView
• High Performers provide products that are highly rated by their users, but have not yet achieved the market share and scale of the vendors in the Leader category. High Performers products include: Chartio, GoodData, Looker, Sisense, BOARD, Alteryx, Izenda, and Easy Insight
•  Contenders have significant market presence and resources, but their products have received below average user satisfaction ratings or have not yet received a sufficient number of reviews to validate their products. Contenders products include: Oracle BI, SAS Business Intelligence, Microsoft Power BI, TIBCO Spotfire, Hyperion, Business Objects, Jaspersoft, IBM Cognos, and MicroStrategy
•  Niche products do not have the market presence of the Leaders. They may have been rated positively on customer satisfaction, but have not yet received enough reviews to validate their success. Niche products include: Domo, Pentaho, Logi Analytics, and Birst

Report Summary

The Winter 2016 Business Intelligence Grid℠ Report revealed these high level insights about the Business Intelligence software market as a whole:

Raising the Stakes — Several products pushed the envelope in terms of overall satisfaction for this report. InsightSquared and Phocas Software pulled away from the pack while several products fell from Leaders or High Performers to Contenders and Niche products since the Summer 2015 report.

Vying for Leader Status — When only considering how products serve small businesses and mid-market companies (less than 1000 employees), no product has gained enough market presence to be considered a Leader. Several products are performing well as High Performers among either or both customer segments.

Smooth Business Relationships — The ease of doing business with BI vendors improved to a high 87% average satisfaction in this report.

Easy Intelligence — Ease of setup and ease of use were the main concerns among reviewers across products. BI with out-of-the-box data connectors and self-service analytics were the ideal applications described by users. Ease of use averaged at 84% satisfaction while ease of setup averaged 78%.

Features with Room to Improve —BI’s lowest rated features on average were predictive analytics (73% satisfaction), automodeling (75%), and mobile BI (77%).
